On this page we will outline the construction of our aluminum furnace and some of the projects we have used it on.

Pic.1 is all the tilting type crucible parts organised on the table for welding.
They are cleaned and adjusted for for proper fit before welding.
Pic.2 is a look at the welded bottom.
Pic.3 is the completed crucible upside down on the table. This crucible bolts under the lid of the furnace and will hold about 35 Lbs. of Aluminum.

Here are pics of the burner. It is a Ron Reil type.
These burners are very simple and work very well.
IM not going to tell how to make the burner, there are many resources on them already. Google "Ron Reil Propane Burner".
The hose is an upgrade for a Barbi-Q grill sold at Home Depot. The regulator is from MSC.
Pic3 is a test burn, and as you can see, it works!

If you have made it to here than you already know what pics 1 and 2 are. Pic 3 is just a look at the completed drum from the rear. Notice the burner and exhaust ports.

Here in pic1 are some wood patterns used to cast a few sizes of cope and drag boxes. In the rear of pic2 are cast soft jaws before being machined, the jaws in the front have been machined square, and then used to hold parts for second operation machining on the CNC mill.
